In December 1996, the Ontario HIV Epidemiologic Monitoring Unit was established as a joint undertaking of the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (OMHLTC) and the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. The Unit was initiated by the AIDS Bureau, OMHLTC which also provides ongoing funding support. Since its inception, the Unit has been directed by Dr. Robert S. Remis.
